West Virginia State Penitentiary in Marshall County is one of the most haunted locations on the East Coast. This former prison, condemned in 1995, housed some of the most violent criminals in history. Paranormal activity includes flickering lights, ghostly laughter, slamming iron doors, and footsteps in areas where no stairs exist. Many believe the spirits of past prisoners still roam the halls, trapped in their torment.
